UPDATE: Artist Breakdown: TuneCore Live Brooklyn @ The Living Room Aug. 19

August 14, 2015

We’re gearing up for the first hometown edition of our TuneCore Live event series! Due to an unfortunate incident (everyone’s OK!), The Kickdrums have had to bow out from the event. Not to fear, however, as we’ve added 18th & Addison to the bill. Alongside BRAEVES, DJ Matt FX, and a very special headliner that we’ll be announcing next week,  UPDATE: PigPen Theatre Co. has been announced as the headline – we’ll be hanging with Swisher Sweets and CeleBuzz at the Living Room in Brooklyn next Wednesday, August 19th for a night of music, networking and fun.

If you’re in the NYC-area and wanna mingle with your friends at TuneCore, clear some space on your calendar! We’ll be there to party, talk about the indie music business, and connect face-to-face with members of the TuneCore community. The show is FREE, 21+ and doors are at 8pm. RSVP on our Facebook Event page here. To familiarize yourself a bit more with the artists who’ll be hitting the stage/DJ booth, read and listen below:

UPDATE: PigPen Theatre Co. Announced as Headliner!

PigPen Theatre Co.

“PigPen Theatre Co. began creating their unique brand of music, film, and theatre as freshmen at the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama in 2007. Their debut album, “Bremen”, was named #10 album of the year in The Huffington Post’s 2012 Grammy preview sending PigPen on tour playing to sold-out crowds across the country. In 2015 PigPen released their sophomore album, Whole Sun, and made their feature film debut in Jonathan Demme’s “Ricki and the Flash” starring Meryl Streep.

They have produced their original plays Off-Broadway and toured the country – earning them critic’s picks from The New York Times, Time Out New York, Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, Boston Globe, and many more, ranking them in the top ten theatrical events of 2011, 2012, and 2013. They were the first group to win the NYC Fringe Festival’s top honor for a play two years in a row (2010/11) and have gone on to win IRNE (2012, 2015) and Jeff Awards (2014) for their theatrical productions.”

18th & Addison

18thaddison
The brainchild of duo Tom Kunzman and Kait DiBenedetto, 18th & Addison is an indie pop-punk outfit based in NJ that formed after the dissemination of their respective former bands. Kunzman played in punk act Criminal Risk and DiBenedetto fronted Just Kait, in addition to playing with New Found Glory’s Chad Gibert in What’s Eating Gilbert. Hot off the heels of their 2015 debut EP, Little Parasites, 18th & Addison  will be bringing the upbeat energy needed to get this party started!

BRAEVES

Long Island-based four piece BRAEVES use their soulful pop and rock influences to create indie gems reminiscent of The Shins and Grizzly Bear. Initially formed by childhood friends Ryan Colt Levy and Derek Tramont, BRAEVES joined forces with indie producer Mike Watts (As Tall as Lions/The Dear Hunter) to release their EP, Drifting By Design in Fall of 2014. Stream their latest single (via TuneCore, as well) “Silver Streets” below.

Matt FX

Matt FX
At only 23, New York-native Matt “FX” Feldman wears many hats – and in style! DJ, producer, and music supervisor for Comedy Central’s ‘Broad City’, Hulu’s ‘Difficult People’ and FXX’s ‘Man Seeking Woman’, this dude’s got it happening for him. We’re thrilled to have him spinning our inaugural event, and we’re the proud digital distributor of his multi-artist, genre-bending, self-titled release under the name Scooter Island. Peep his single from that release, “Breezy” below.
